It has been an absolute joy putting this simple neutral nursery together! We have completely embraced the challenge of small space design with this project. At 39 weeks pregnant, we are finally wrapping up the finishing touches on baby Kai’s sweet little nest. We decided on a neutral color pallet to keep baby’s room light and bright. The whites really open up the small space and give it a clean uncluttered feel.
Below: Chandelier, Ceramic Wall Planter, Wooden Block Lettering, Machine Washable Rug, Floor Planter, Crib & Changing pad covers By including a number of DIY projects we were able to stick to a budget without sacrificing style. My grandfather, who is a super talented woodworker custom built each of these features, starting with the 2ft tall wood block lettering of baby’s name (which are also his initials BTW). We came up with a great way to save space by adding floating bookshelves. He also created an attractive way for us to hang the lovely crib mobile by Big Imagination Design. For the gallery wall we included a hand-crafted barn wood picture frame made by my grandfather for our wedding. We added a few dark stained triangle mirrors from Target which we modified by removing the glass and painting the wood. Among various art pieces we found a sweet compass wall banner made by Aspen & Oak. We picked up the decorative wire baskets at Michaels to create extra storage above the changing table.
Above: Wire Baskets, Constellation Blocks, Letter BoardWe have to mention the machine washable rug by Lorena Canals. It is SO cozy! We’ve found ourselves laying on the floor day dreaming about life with baby. It’s also comforting to know that Kai will enjoy a lot of tummy time there and we can easily keep it clean.
We are just days away from meeting our baby boy and we are over the moon excited to bring him into our happy home. Time to finish up the baby laundry and try all of the self inducing tricks in the books! We hope you’ve enjoyed our little nursery reveal. Feel free to leave your questions or comments here!
